THE LAKSMAN

Synopsis

In the mid 1700’s, ENNIS NIGER, an African slave acquires his freedom. In exchange, he’s appointed as the public executioner for the entirety of European immigrants and colored slaves by one of the colonial states. Malicious settlers were resentful of his position and wealth whom in return, conspire to brutally murder him to acquire his property. His wife and son escape and survive to unleash a future vengeance upon the settlers’ descendants.

Every year BETTY RAE (50’s) operates BUTCHER’S FIELD, an OUTDOOR HAUNTED HOUSE on her multiple acre property. It’s a popular main attraction during Halloween that appeals to teenagers and mature adults, taking them on a suspenseful and heart pumping experience, led by a wagon ride driven by long time employee RED (60’s).

Yearly successful rides without a hitch all comes to an end this particular Halloween night. A young couple and six teenagers NICK (18), KATIE (18), ADAM (18), MATT (17) ASHLEY (17), and LORIANN (18) set out to enjoy the haunted house which quickly turned into a night of CHAOS. There is only ONE RULE during this experience, and it’s STAY IN THE WAGON. Shortly after the young couple’s ride begins, they hop off the wagon and race through the deep surrounding woods. The young couple hear a faint cry out of HELP ME near what looks like a broken-down van. NICK, KATIE, ADAM, MATT, ASHLEY and LORIANN come aboard the WAGON and set off into the quiet and calm night through the woods. Like most headstrong teenagers, ADAM slides off the wagon and takes off into the dark woods ALONE...

So begins the pandemonium.

While the couple makes their approach to the faint distress call for help, out from the tree stands THELAKSMAN, a menacing masked entity, harboring the supernaturally imbued brutal weapon and nature of his ancestor. Through Adam’s aimless wander throughout the woods, he tragically encounters the same masked man. Red returns and informs Betty Rae that the young couple violated the RULE and are nowhere to be found, while the teenagers make her aware their friend hasn’t returned. BETTY RAE is in denial of anything problematic happening on her property, resulting to not involving the police and continuing business as usual. THE LAKSMAN persists in savagely butchering most of the partygoers as they begin their searches.

Betty Rae begins to realize that there may be some truth to the folklore passed down in her family history. As she prepares her escape, she encounters THE LAKSMAN. THE LAKSMAN’S identity is revealed to be one of BETTY RAE’S former employees REGEN ENNIS OWENS, a descendant of ENNIS NIGER. It’s discovered that BUTCHER’S FIELD was originally the property stolen from ENNIS NIGER by BETTYRAE’S ancestors who were the ringleaders of his murder. A merciless battle ensues between two generational foes, eventually resulting in their demise. Ultimately this Halloween becomes undeniably the most terrorizing and unforgettable night of their young lives.

The legacy of THE LAKSMAN will live on by another heir of ENNIS NIGER that will continue to wreak HAVOC on BUTCHER’S FIELD, leaving the survivors on edge for years to come.
